Apprenticeships are the better way to start your career!

They allow you to start work and earn a wage, while learning new skills that will lead to a nationally recognised qualification.  Apprentices learn on the job, building up knowledge and skills, gaining qualifications and earning money at the same time.

They are designed by employers in industry, so they offer a structured programme that provides you with the skills you need to do your job well.

Apprenticeships - Level 2

This qualification is a package of training and qualifications.  This is an NVQ Level 2, Key Skills and in most cases a technical certificate.

In the work place, achievement of an Apprenticeship at level 2 means you are qualified to do the job.  Apprenticeships provide the skills you need for your chosen career and can lead onto an Advanced Apprenticeship.

Advanced Apprenticeships - Level 3

Advanced Apprentices have a similar package but at a higher level.  To start this programme, you should ideally have five GCSEs (grade C or above) relevant experience or completed an Apprenticeship at level 2.

In the work place, an Advanced Apprenticeship qualification means you have specific tasks or responsibilities within your job, or you could be supervising people.  An Electrician for instance is not qualified without an Advanced Apprenticeship.

If you feel you are not ready to start an Employed Apprenticeship, then why not try one of the following options:

With all of our progammes, you will be gently guided through all the new things you need to know.  You will be assigned a member of staff who will work with you and make sure that your programme goes as smoothly as possible.

If you are going to a non-gender typical occupation, then we provide support for you.  This scheme is called ‘A-typical mentoring’. This means, for instance, that if you are a girl wanting to learn Engineering then this scheme will support you from when you start until the completion of your Apprenticeship.  But girls are not the only ones to benefit.  If you are a lad who is interested in Childcare or Health & Social Care, then this A-typical mentoring can help you too.  The A-typical mentoring scheme assigns you a young person, who is an ex-apprentice who has gone through the programme you are just starting.
