Floristry

We are one of the largest providers of floristry courses starting at beginners level, through to fully accredited courses. Some learners take forward the skills learned to develop their own businesses.  One learner has recently been awarded the prestigious award of Medal for

Excellence from City & Guilds. Floristry trends are constantly changing and this is reflected in the courses we deliver.

Case Study

Wincanton floristry student Jeni Galligan was over the moon when she was awarded the City & Guilds Medal for Excellence for her

outstanding floristry work and research after attending a wedding floristry course with Somerset Skills & Learning. Only about 100

students out of over a million win these awards each year. Jeni’s portfolio had already been identified as an example of good practice.

Jeni told us “The dedication that it took to complete the course and produce my portfolio was really enjoyable. Never in my wildest dreams did I think it could lead to winning a Medal for Excellence.  All thanks go to Jacqui Weaver and her great teaching and motivational skills.”

Since completing her course she has published a book called ‘Wire Work Projects for the Florist’ which combines decorative wire work with floristry.  It is an instructional book with diagrammatical detail and photographs of the projects which won her the award.

Jeni was presented with her award at a lavish event on Thursday 26th May at The Roundhouse in London.
