This high level online course provides the skills and knowledge to plan a variety of progressive programmes, and determine the appropriate levels of frequency, intensity, duration and type of activities to meet fitness goals and needs. It comprises of three units Advanced exercise & Fitness Knowledge, Advanced cardiovascular training and Advanced resistance training. Each unit requires 50 hours of home study which you do in your own pace.
You will also have access to tutor support should you require assistance.
Course Requirements
A qualification at level 2 in the Fitness Gym context or similar
Current CRP/First aid award
You should have some experience of using a gym and it is recommended that during the course you gain further knowledge and skills by participating in activities at your local gym environment at your own cost. Practical workshops will be offered at extra cost for those that are struggling to find the time in the gym.
You will also be required to do a literacy and numeracy self assessment and will be offered further support so required to meet the level 2 standard.

Assessment
Theory Assessment
Unit 301 Advanced exercise and fitness knowledge is assessed by a multiple choice theory paper (sat online in one of our centres). This is externally set and marked by City & Guilds.
Practical Assessment
You will submit a portfolio of evidence which contains the following:
- PARQ and lifestyle assessment documentation for a client
- An outline of the client goals and needs
- 12 week predictive training plan designed for client specific needs
- Risk assessment for the planned session
- Evidence of CPR/First Aid Certificate
- Self reflection and CPD action planning after the practical observation
Practical Observation
You will then be required to attend one of our centres with a body to act as your client when you will be observed instructing your client through the fitness programme showing a range of training methods.
